The national gallery was opened in 1976 and is located in a modern building. The ground floor houses temporary exhibitions. The second placed a small collection of European art – works by El Greco, Rembrandt, Durer, Brueghel, Watteau, Cezanne, and many others. On the third floor is an exhibition of contemporary Greek art, covering the period from the XVIII to the XX century.
