Wat Benchamabophit, one of the youngest of the Royal monasteries of Bangkok, was established in the early twentieth century. Its second name – the Marble temple – complex was due to the fact that its walls are covered with gray Carrara marble. In its designing was attended by the Italian architect Hercules Manfredi.
The temple is decorated with amazing stained glass Windows, designed in the Victorian style and depicting scenes from Thai mythology. In the building where lived the king Rama V during his temporary monasticism, preserved paintings depicting events of the era of his reign. In one of the halls is stored the ashes of Rama V.
In the yard of wool exhibited bronze sculptures of Buddha, including the famous Walking Buddha.
