Strolling through the picturesque Rambla of the Capuchins, we can turn to a small street leading to one of the most beautiful and famous places of Barcelona – plaça Reial.
In the mid-19th century Barcelona, the authorities decided to create an area on the grounds of a former monastery, has announced a competition for the best project, which was won by the architect Francesc Daniel Molina. For his project in 1850-1859, was broken square, called Royal. Later, in 1878, it was decided about decorating and gardening area. Participated in the design of the square took the young architect Antoni Gaudi. Thanks to the extraordinary and remarkable talent of an outstanding architect Royal square acquired its magnificent, unique and cozy look. Gaudi has created an amazing form and beauty of the lanterns, which in themselves are a true work of art. In the evenings the square is beautifully lit their fancy light. In the center of the square is a beautiful fountain with a beautiful name "the Three graces", near which always rests many tourists and passers-by!. In the square there is a large number of restaurants and cafes, and Nightclubs that attract large number of visitors. During many holidays on the square are organized festivals and concerts under the open sky, collecting a huge number of people.
In 1984 was the reconstruction of the Royal square on the author's project architects Correa and charming. For this project roadway area was completely replaced by the pedestrian area.
