The Batak reservoir is the eponymous resort in the Western part of the Rhodope mountains, 8 km from Batak and 24 km from Velingrad. The reservoir is the third largest artificial reservoir in Bulgaria.

The resort itself is located in the ski town of Tsigov Chark, near the shore of the reservoir. The average height is about 1 kilometer above sea level. To the level of 1 kilometer, the climate can be classified as a transitional-continental, mountain and high mountain zones, the climate has a pronounced mountain character. Snow in winter is delayed by 2-5 months, making Batak perfect ski resort.

The Batak reservoir is famous among experienced anglers for its wonderful catch. The resort is located very close to Has-Sucka (height – 2186 meters), one of the peaks of the Rhodope. Due to this, the resort offers opportunities for various Hiking tours. In addition, in the summer the reservoir are all conditions for recreation: water bikes, boats, jet skis, etc. For connoisseurs have the opportunity to hunt on the territory of Batak municipality is equipped with a special hunting.

In winter, the reservoir attracts lovers of steep turns and descents on skis or snowboard. The length of ski trails available in the area, is 1, 5 km, the lower part is quite shallow, making it ideal for beginners to master the slopes. It also has two towing cable car. In the upper part of the track is significantly steeper, you can reach it by towing "a plate" lift.

The resort zone of the Batak reservoir includes hotels, villas and private houses.
