Historical Museum in the town of Batak was founded in 1956. To the Museum complex is part of the building itself, as well as the historic Church of Saint of the Week and house museums with Balinova and Sharova.
City history Museum – cultural research Institute, which carries out the state policy in the field of protection of historical and cultural values and the development of museums in the municipality of Batak. On the basis of the historical Museum in the city is to coordinate all archaeological activities in the field, examination and presentation of cultural heritage, and natural resources. All this helps to develop cultural tourism in Bulgaria.
The total area of the Museum is 900 square meters and in this territory there are exhibitions of photographs and documentary materials, the original findings of different eras – from ancient times to the Renaissance and the period April uprising during the Russian-Turkish war. On the first floor played asylum Batak partisans. The total number of exhibits presented in the Museum, more than 500.
The house-Museum Balinova is object number 3 historical Museum, ranked among the architectural and cultural monuments of the country. The building was built around 1895. Tellingly, the walls of the house painted, but such houses in Batak just a few, because traditionally the walls were left white. From 1918 to 1944 there lived a Secretary of the working youth Union and the Communist party of resistance against the German occupation Trendafil Balinov. Since 1968, the house was converted into a Museum, ethnographic exhibits: the life, customs and traditional way of life of the Bulgarians in the late XIX – early XX centuries. In the courtyard of the building exhibited only surviving furnace, which was equipped in the yard.
The house-Museum Sharova, which is also part of the Museum complex, is a gallery "Boris Balls", but there are no permanent exhibitions. The house-Museum opened to visitors only in the moment of exposure temporary exhibitions.
