The temple in honor of the Holy great-Martyr George in Bobruisk was built in 1907 as a garrison Church of Bobruisk fortress, in the vicinity of the entrance to the fortress.
The temple was erected by the forces of the military construction under the project of architect A. Chagin. His Patriotic silhouette was dictated by the tsarist authorities, who wanted to have another reminder about Imperial supplies recently joined and turbulent Polish lands. For simplicity, the military whitewashed walls, for which the people, the Church acquired the nickname the White Church.
In 1928, came to power in Bobruisk, the Bolsheviks closed the St. George Church, using her first under garment manufacturing, then to a grocery warehouse, and during the war it was organized motor repair shop. After the war, the city authorities decided to adapt for their needs mighty empty building. On the ground floor was open for public dining room, on the second – Lenin library.
In 1990 began the restoration of the temple, which required considerable effort and cost, because the Soviet builders of the temple was completely changed. In 1992 began to build the bell tower. In 1995 construction began on the two-story center for religious education and baptism of the Church.
Currently George's Church in Bobruisk is a functioning Orthodox Church. Open Orthodox spiritual and educational center with a Sunday school, a printing house, Orthodox library. When education centre were established youth center Saint John the theologian and the Sisterhood of St. Juliana of Lazarevo.
