Brest art Museum recently opened a branch of the Brest regional Museum. It is located in a restored southern barracks of the Brest fortress. The opening took place on 17 may 2002.

Despite its youth, the Museum owns an impressive collection of modern art. It stores more than 2 thousand units of painting, sculpture, graphics, decorative-applied art. Such a large collection gathered in the Museum, from the 1950-ies. In 2002, it was decided to move the collection to a new building.

Restoration of the southern barracks of the Brest fortress held under the leadership of the Minsk architect V. I. Bakaeva for the project Brest architect V. N. Kazakova. In the Museum are 10 exhibition halls, common rooms of 1,100 square meters.

Contemporary collection of fine art is constantly updated. It is chiefly the works of Belarusian artists living outside the country.

The Museum holds exhibitions of painters, sculptors, folk artists, and welcomes guests from other cities and States with their most interesting exhibitions and displays.

The Museum organizes interesting tours under the guidance of experienced guides on the following topics: the history of the region in the Brest works of masters", "Traditional crafts of the Brest region XIX-XX centuries", "the Great Patriotic war in paintings". The Museum also conducts educational work among students, organizes competitions and master classes Belarusian folk crafts, both for adults and for the youngest visitors.
