Mosque of AMR Ibn al-AAS was founded in 640 year and is the oldest Islamic monument in Cairo. The mosque was repeatedly reconstructed and expanded. In 1800 minarets were erected.
The middle of the mosque – open square yard on all sides bordered with arcades along the walls, and the side adjacent to the prayer niche (mihrab), wider than the others. Almost all the columns vary in height, thickness and age.
In the far left corner of the mosque is the tomb of the son of AMR, Abdallah.
