Lovers of antiquities, certainly worth a visit is relatively small, but very interesting Archaeological Museum of Chalkida, the exposition of which perfectly illustrates the history of cultural development of the island of Euboea (Evia). The Museum is located on the street Venizelou, 13 in a neoclassical building, built in the early twentieth century.

The exhibition of the Archaeological Museum are presented in chronological order and covers a huge time period, from the Paleolithic era to the times of the Roman Empire. In the building of the Museum has three exhibition halls, and some of the exhibits are located on the territory of a very spacious patio.

In the Archaeological Museum of Chalkida you can see various ceramics, sculpture, figurines, excellent collection of classical and Hellenistic coins, funeral steles and other burial artifacts, architectural pieces, jewelry, bronzes, weapons, and more. Among the most valuable exhibits of the Museum it is worth noting torso of Apollo from the temple of Apollo at Eretria (dated to the archaic period), the headless statue of Apollo (copy the Roman period, the statue of Antinous (2nd century BC.e.and sculptured tomb in the shape of a seated woman (5th century BC.e.). Of special interest are also funerary stele with relief depicting Dionysus and Pluto (4th century BC.e.), Golden wreath from the Hellenistic cemetery of Agios Stefanos and two bronze Kouros of the archaic period. No less interesting and unique artifacts ranellidae period, found during excavations of a prehistoric settlement Manica (3rd th. to n.e.), as well as Mycenaean and geometric pottery.

After devastating earthquakes in 1980-1981 the Museum building was severely damaged. In 1990, underwent extensive renovations, the Museum reopened its doors to visitors. Ancient relics Archaeological Museum of Chalkis were collected from all corners of the island of Euboea, and are of great archaeological and cultural value.
