The Botanical garden of Vladivostok is one of the natural attractions of this city which is a favorite place of leisure, both for local residents and visitors.

The history of the Botanical garden is directly connected with the history of Vladivostok. Attempt to create a garden in the "Garden city" was initiated in the mid 20-ies Professor V. M. Savic. After the great Patriotic war, the question was raised about the creation in the system of the USSR Academy of Sciences a network of Botanical gardens, covering all corners of the country. It was then the far Eastern base of the Academy of Sciences jointly with the local authorities of Primorsky Krai, took the initiative in creating the Botanical garden of Vladivostok. In April 1946, their initiative was supported. This was allocated a plot of land with an area of 176 hectares with well-preserved deciduous and Cherepanovo-deciduous forests.

In the 50s, the Botanic garden was considered to be a real academic institution. In 1966, the head of the garden was named L. N. Slezic. In 1970, in connection with the organization of the far Eastern scientific center, USSR Academy of Sciences Vladivostok Botanical garden was awarded the status of an independent scientific institution. Already in 1990, the garden has received the status of a research Institute.

Today Vladivostok Botanical garden is unique in the Russian far East Botanical research Institute. The Institute conducts research in three scientific areas: biological bases of plant introduction, anthropogenic changes of the plant world and the protection of the gene pool of flora of the Far East.

Just a collection of the Botanical garden, there are about 3 thousand species of plants. The collection is stored, studied and supported.

The Botanical garden is beautiful in any season and in any weather. It pleases its visitors with magnificent roses, dahlias, lilies and irises.
