The art Museum is an integral part of the Cherepovets Museum Association. From the structure of the Museum he excelled in 1938, and, 19 years later, in 1957, for exhibitions of art collections he was given a small room on Lenin street, where the Museum until 1992. The exposition "Russian art of the late XVIII-early XX centuries", you can see paintings by famous Russian artists: Borovikovsky, Rokotov, Turina, Makarova, Turumba, Bogolyubov, Repin, Kustodiev and others. Presents the works of Jean-Laurent Monnier and Johann-Baptist Lampi. Special attention deserves the painting "the appearance of the angel to the shepherds" artist Petrovsky (pupil of K. Briullov), noted in 1839 the Grand gold medal.

In the exhibition "Russian Orthodox art of the XIV-XIX centuries" presents a unique monuments of iconography, pictorial embroidery, prints and manuscripts, iconic casting (Panagia, crosses, folding and others), pearl, sculpture in wood. Here you can see the oldest and the only one in the Vologda region the icon of XIV century, which depicts St. Nicholas, particularly revered in Russia. Very beautiful icons of XV-XVII centuries. They are created by local craftsmen under the influence of iconographic center of Tver, Rostov, Novgorod and art of the peasants of the Russian North. They were exhibited in Genoa, Vatican city, Japan, Macedonia, Florence, Cyprus. In addition, the exhibition presents the work of "John the Theologian in silence" the master of the Armoury T. The book collection of the Museum displays manuscripts and early printed books XV-XIX centuries. You can see samples of old handwritings. Among early printed books released "oktoih", Dating back to the year 1594. Exposition of folk art introduces visitors to the household items and clothing North the province of Novgorod peasants. Here you can also see local spinning wheels, sleds, hats for women, embroidered river, including Sheksninskaya, pearls.
At the art Museum formed a small modern art gallery. Here are the works of local and visiting artists, regardless of manner of writing and style. The Museum under the open sky, where the churches of the assumption in the village of Melissae and St. Nicholas in the village of Dmitrieva, made of wood, is a branch of the art Museum. They date from the second half of the XVII century. The interior of the churches and their unique construction and design features provide an excellent opportunity to see the masterpieces of Russian architecture.
