The Church of Agia Paraskevi, located on the street, 24, is the first Orthodox stone Church in the city. Previously on the site of the present Church was a wooden Church of St. Paraskeva is one of the oldest temples of Chernivtsi. It was located on a hill slightly above the Old market square. However, the Church, built at the expense of boyar Leckie, time has not been kind. The following wooden Church of St. Paraskeva was built in 1745 and served as a Cathedral until 1843 1844 through the initiative of the rector of the Church father A. In February 1864 at the Church of St. Paraskeva remarkable event took place - local first recognized Rusyns themselves Ukrainians. In November of 1890 had been an accident in the temple there was a fire which burned down the whole right side of the iconostasis, and were also damaged wall paintings. In the first years of Soviet power the Church was valid. But in 1962, the Executive Committee of the Chernivtsi regional Council adopted a decision On de-registration of a religious community of Paraskevi Church of Chernivtsi". After which the building was put at the disposal of the Executive Committee of the city Council for the conversion of a warehouse. In December 1986, the Church opened a chess club. Instead destroyed the Church's stained-glass Windows created a new one, with chess symbols. Chess club was located in the temple about 5 years. But the believers did not lose hope and even before the proclamation of independence of Ukraine began to fight for the return of the Church. In 1992, the temple was temporarily assigned the status of a Cathedral.
Today Chernivtsi Paraskevi Church is an active Church of the UOC-KP.
