Located just above the DOI Suthep mountain of the same name, the Palace Phu-Ping is the winter residence of the Queen of Thailand. The main buildings were built in 1961, and the rest later.
On-site residences are special facilities for foreign dignitaries. So the first visitors of the winter Royal residence became Danish king Frederick IX and his wife Queen Ingrid in 1962. Until this moment the Royal couple welcomed notable guests exclusively in the capital, Bangkok.
The Palace Phu Ping is open to everyone, except for the time when it rests the Royal family. Typically, this occurs in the period from mid December to end of February.
In the winter Royal residence year-round employ gardeners, creating beautiful flower arrangements from local and exotic plants. In the winter months it grows organic strawberries, eat where the Queen arrives.
The Palace, designed in traditional Thai style “Reun Mu” and is located in the national Park of DOI Suthep. The cool mountain air, plenty of living vegetation and gorgeous views make this place a great option for a getaway from the bustling city.
Opposite the Palace is the craft fair. In the vicinity of Chiang Mai, including on the mountain DOI Suthep, live in separate tribes, preserving the ancient skills of hand-made silver jewelry, fabrics and more. The market at the Palace of Phu Ping is a great opportunity to see these people and buy one of their wonderful creations.
