Kardamyla is a small picturesque town on the northeast coast of the Greek island of Chios, about 28 km from the homonymous capital of the island. Kardamyla is famous for centuries-old Maritime tradition and is home to many wealthy shipowners. Today in Kardamili home to about 2,000 people and is the third largest settlement of the island.

The settlement existed and flourished here in ancient times. Mention of ancient Kardamyli" is found in the writings of the famous Greek historian Thucydides. The Central square, we can see today was built much later.

Today Kardamyla consists of two parts – ANO Kardamyla and Kato Kardamyla, or Marmara. More ancient ANO Kardamyla, or so-called "upper town" is located at some distance from the sea, at the foot of a steep hill, GRIA, on top of which is still preserved ruins of a medieval fortress. This location was probably chosen as it provided the relative safety of local residents from actively hunted in the coastal waters of pirates. This part Kardamili more interesting from a historical and architectural point of view: so, there is still preserved the narrow medieval streets with stone arcades and charming old houses.

Tourist infrastructure (hotels, restaurants, shops, etc.) is mainly concentrated in the Marmara, which is located around a convenient natural harbour is just 2 km from the "upper city". Walking through the cozy streets of Marmara, you can enjoy luxurious evergreen neoclassical mansions of local shipowners. On the waterfront stands the symbol Kardamili - statue of the "unknown sailor", created by the famous Greek sculptor Apartisan and along the shore of towering old windmills.

Kardamyla is famous for many charming churches and chapels of Agia Nicholas, Agia Lucas, Dormition of the Theotokos, Agia Markel, Agia Paraskevi, Agia Marina, etc.

Neighborhood same Kardamili famous for the stunning beauty of the scenery and magnificent beaches, among which special attention deserve the of Vlychada, Nagos, of Giosonas and Ambelos.
