National Philharmonic society of a name of Sergey Lunchevici center of cultural life in Moldova, the largest concert organization working in Chisinau.
The story of the creation of the National Philharmonic dates back to 1940 when to promote musical creativity in Chisinau was created by the Moldova state Philharmonic, worked with diverse teams, Symphony, pop music, dance ensembles. The most famous among them are academic choir chapel "Doina", the ensemble "Plai", folk dance ensemble "Joc" and others. In his time at the Philharmonic began his artistic career musicians who gained worldwide fame – Timothy Gurtovoy, Boris Milyutin, Dmitry Goia, Sergei Lunchevici.
In the 1960s the building of the Philharmonic there was major reconstruction under the guidance of architect V. Voitsekhovsky, which transformed not only the interior but also the exterior – main entrance was adorned with six columned portico, which gives the building a certain monumentality and solemnity. Have also been updated, Large and Small concert halls, reconstructed Organ hall.
During this period bands of the Philharmonic regularly tour both in Moldova and abroad. Under the auspices of the Philharmonic organized a tour for foreign art troupes, there is active research and educational work. The number of concerts per year up to four thousand.
In 2003, the Moldovan Philharmonic is named Sergei Lunchevici.
Today at the Philharmonic active concert and outreach – organizes numerous concerts of classical, jazz, pop and folk music featuring national and international artists, collectives, annual festivals, such as "Days of new music", "Piano nights", international festival "Beethovenissimo" and others.
