In the small village of Chuvashia - Tagaeva, founded in 1546, Chuvash Prince Tugay, is one of the most beautiful temples of Chuvashia.
The first wooden Church in the village was built and consecrated in honor of St. Michael the Archangel in 1748. After two fires, it was decided to erect a stone Church. Since August of 1907 the parish priest was Alexey Bogatyrev, broadly educated man. In the 1930-ies, during the mass destruction of religious buildings, on a high hill around the Church of believers from the twelve villages was formed living fence. To disperse the congregation, holding firmly in hand, the Bolsheviks did not succeed and the Commissioner attempted to personally knock of 115-pounds bell. Suddenly the language of tilted bells struck with such force that the Commissioner at the sight of all the congregation flew out the window of the bell tower and fell on the porch of the temple. Further attempts to destroy the Church, built by the people, was not. Rector, A. A. Bogatyrev was repeatedly subjected to harassment and arrest while in 1936 not died. Subsequent priests in the Soviet years were also arrested and repressed, but the temple was always open to parishioners.
Nowadays, majestic and beautiful Archangel Michael Church in the village of Togeva has kept the original exterior and interior with the shrines, is a historical and architectural landmark of Chuvashia and are proud to once defend their faith Tagesschau edge.
