Acrocorinth (in Greek means "Upper Corinth") – the Acropolis on a huge monolithic rock, which rises over the ruins of the once magnificent ancient city of Corinth. Acrocorinth is considered one of the most impressive Acropolis of Greece. Many beautiful myths and legends surround this interesting place.

Acrocorinth was continuously inhabited since archaic period and until the beginning of the 19th century, although the first settlements appeared here much earlier. Thanks to its excellent strategic position on top of the sheer cliff, which created excellent opportunities for protection and control over the Corinthian isthmus, the area of the Acropolis has always been of special interest to the invaders. And the presence on its territory of a fresh source made this place even more tempting.

For many centuries the castle repeatedly changed its owners changed and the fortress itself. Thoroughly strengthened and expanded the Acropolis, the Byzantines, making it a truly grandiose fortification. After the Fourth Crusade Acroprint came under the rule of the crusaders. Behind them on the hill was dominated by the Venetians and then the Turks, each of which brought their own changes and additions to the architecture of the fortress. In ancient times on the highest point of Acrocrinth housed the temple of Aphrodite. Later on the site of the temple was a Christian Church that was later converted by the Turks into a mosque (like most of the temples of Greece during the Turkish domination).

Today Acroprint is one of the most important medieval monuments of Greece, and from its summit offers stunning panoramic views. Annually it is visited by huge number of tourists from all over the world.
