Lakshmi-Narayana Photo: Lakshmi-Narayana

Beautiful, like toy, Lakshmi-Narayana is located in the capital of India, Delhi. The temple is dedicated to Hindu Goddess of health, Lakshmi and her consort Narayana. The idea of the Church belonged to the famous Indian entrepreneurs and philanthropists, the father and the son, Baldev Birla and Sorghum Kishore Birla, so this construction is also known as Birla Mandir or Birla Temple. Construction began in 1933, and the Grand opening was held in 1939 with the participation of a great spiritual leader of the country of Mahatma Gandhi, who called the creators of the temple to open its doors to all people regardless of their social status and caste.

The entire temple complex with a large garden, decorated with small fountains, covers an area of over three hectares.

The building of the temple of Lakshmi-Narayana performed in the so-called Northern or Nagara style, typical of Hindu religious buildings of the Northern part of India. Almost the entire outer surface of the walls of the temple is covered with carvings of scenes from Hindu mythology, which had been worked over hundreds of the most skilled artists and sculptors of Varanasi. They also created and statues of deities for the temple.

The building has three floors and looks to the East. Its main tower rises above the street for more than 48 meters. The walls of the hall, which houses the main Shrine of the temple are statues of Lakshmi and Narayana, decorated with rich frescoes and fine paintings. They depict the gods in whose honor the temple was built, the stage of their "life". In addition to Lakshmi and her husband, in the temple there are statues of Shiva, Ganesha, Hanuman, and, of course, the Buddha.
