"Our dynamic Earth" - an unusual Museum and science center, located in the historic part of Edinburgh, next to the new Scottish Parliament and Palace of Holyroodhouse. The centre was opened in 1999 in the framework of the meeting of the new Millennium. The program included the reorganization of the territories occupied earlier by industrial enterprises. The roof of this unusual building is a metal membrane, stretched on a steel frame, the project was executed by the architectural firm of Michael Hopkins and partners.
Its main task this scientific and entertainment center is to educate visitors about the processes that shaped our planet. Here we decide on a difficult task: how to strike a balance between scientific accuracy and reliability and entertaining form of presentation.
The Museum features interactive exhibits, telling about dinosaurs and other extinct animals, about the importance of tropical forests and ocean life. From the crater of the volcano, visitors are transported in the ice age.
Part of the expositions devoted to forecast of development of the Earth, based on real facts, and the fantastic: what would now dinosaurs and our planet in General, if it hadn't happened that fateful asteroid collision with Earth? Much attention is paid to the conservation of nature and what can be fragile ecosystem and how easily it can be broken.
The Museum is happy to visit both children and adults.
