Historical Museum named after V. P. Shpakovsky in Essentuki one of the major urban cultural centers. Located in the historic centre of Yessentuki in an old two-storey mansion, built in the late NINETEENTH century by priest J. D. Elm. The Museum was founded in 1963 by the veteran-teacher V. P. Spakowski.
Until 1978, the Museum was popular, he was later awarded the status of state. Now in the collections of the historical Museum houses over 30,000 artifacts. All of the exposition is located in six rooms.
The exhibits presented in the Department of nature, talk about the features of the Spa town: its climate, fauna and flora. There are also collections of archaeological and paleontological telling about the past of a variety of treatment programs. Next, the exposition reflects the history of the origin of the village of Terek Cossacks. There are authentic items that were given to the Museum by local residents. In the sections "Types of population and its composition" and "Old Essentuki" a lot of unique documents, photographs and household items.
This exhibition tells about the resort city since the opening of the F. P. Gaaz mineral springs and to this day, and the people who played a huge role in the development of the resort. Much interest and other Museum exhibits dedicated to famous countrymen E. A. Kersnovskaya and A. T. Gubin. Not the least interesting section with works by the sculptor G. Cherkasova, who handed in a plaster reliefs of his world vision.
In a small room are the antique pieces of furniture from the sanatorium № 5, in which they were brought from Moscow in 20-th years of the 20st. in the Soviet period of development of resorts. In the memorial room V. I. Razumovsky presents materials about the life and activity of Professor, the founder of universities in Tbilisi, Saratov and Baku.
In front of the visitors of the Museum are captured in documents, photographs and exhibits, the events of the war, seen through the prism of the small southern town of Russia.
The Museum has an art show with works by artists from the region and two exhibition halls, where regular exhibitions are held.
