Evora is famous for its "Aqueduct of silver water". This magnificent structure was built by the Romans under the Emperor of Sartorii. In 1531-1537, the architect, Francisco de Arruda completely revolutionized the aqueduct. It was so impressive structure that is the greatest poet of Portugal, Camões even described it in his "Lusiad".
