The exhibition of the City Museum of Gothenburg talks about the history and culture of the city and its inhabitants from the earliest times to the present day. In addition, the City Museum has the largest library and archive, which incorporates the most complete history of the development of the region and the city in particular. One of the most remarkable exhibits is the ship of the Viking age, today it is the only preserved Viking ship with runic inscriptions.

In addition to the permanent exhibition, the Museum has temporary exhibitions on various subjects. There is also arranged a wide range of activities, attracting visitors of all ages, for example, seminars, tours and city walks. The Museum has a gift shop, café and a new games room for children.
