Ribat is a monastery-fortress that serves to protect the coast from attacks by Christians. Ribat was finally completed in 821, during the reign of Agapitov.

Around the perimeter of the courtyard, paved with light-colored stone, are the gallery of cells and is elevated watch tower – Nador. If you climb 73 steps to the top of the tower, it opens a magnificent view of the city and surrounding area.
