Lykhny is a small ancient Abkhazian village, located in the Gudauta district of Abkhazia, 5 km from the Spa town of Gudauta. The picturesque village is the historic center of the region. In 1808-1864, it was the official summer residence of the Prince and even the capital of Abkhazia.

Lykhny is very rich in attractions. The most basic among them is an extensive glade – Lichnosti located in the center of the village. It is here held public gatherings, national holidays and annual equestrian competitions. On Lyhnensky the meadow you can see the ruins of the Palace, which belonged to the sovereign princes of Abkhazia Chachba-Shervashidze for many centuries. The Palace was destroyed in 1866

The main historical and architectural value village Lykhny is a well-known Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God, which for all its thousand-year history has never undergone a major restoration and has been preserved in its original form until today. Cross-domed Church, built in X-XI century, is perfectly visible from any point of the clearing. In its form it resembles the famous a temple. Its high walls are built of hewn stone and brick. The temple is surrounded by ancient stone fences.
