This monastery, founded in the first half of the 13th century by the Franciscan brothers on the banks of the Mur river in the centre of the Austrian city of Graz in Styria. It was the first religious institution in the urban area of Graz. In the 16th century, the monastery went to one of the branches of the Franciscan Order of lesser brothers, in whose possession it remains today.

Shortly thereafter were collected generous donations for the construction of a Gothic three-aisled hall. The building was completed in 1519. The Western tower was built in 1636-1643 years as defensive towers. The former pointed spire was in 1740 replaced by a bulbous dome of green. In addition, was created by the refectory, and there was a consecration of the new altar. In 1770 was removed and bricked up in the walls of mount Olivet chapel. In 1783, the Church of the monastery received the status of a parish, after which it became a daily service.

The interior of the Abbey Church is rich, lots of moldings, paintings and statues. All the furniture is made in the Baroque style. The Central altar of the Church is at a certain elevation. In the belfry is one of the oldest in Graz bells, it was established in 1272.

During the Second world war the Church was badly damaged during the bombing. Restoration was carried out in the 1954-1955 year.
