Boris and Gleb (kolozhskaya) the Church was built in the XII century. It is the oldest monument extant from the pre-Mongolian times. The Church was supposedly built in the period of life of princes Boris and Gleb Vsevolodovich and named in honour of the martyrs, patrons of the princes, saints Boris and Gleb.

Fire 1183, which started because of lightning in one of the buildings of the city, destroying nearly all churches. Have only Boris and Gleb Church, which temporarily served the city as the Cathedral Church. After the transition Grodno under the rule of Lithuania, the temple was repeatedly destroyed by German soldiers. Every time the Church walls neatly patched. In the end she got such an unusual combination of masonry and boulders.

In the XVI century the Church was repaired and put in order the Bogush Bohovytynovych. He restored the ruined walls and the roof. In the Church were resumed. But again ruined. In the middle of the XVI century, the Church stood empty, with no Windows, doors and roof, only walls.

After Brest, the Cathedral in 1596 Kolozha Church passed under the Basilian (Uniate) monastery. Later he made numerous attempts to restore Kologi, but they all, in the end, it ended with another ruin.

In the mid-nineteenth century there was a serious threat of landslide – high Bank of the Neman river, which built the Church, washed away by the river. At any moment the temple might collapse. Despite the efforts of authorities measures to prevent landslide on the night of 1 to 2 April 1853 Bank of the river, and with it the wall of the Church collapsed into the water.

In 1897 the Bank has strengthened, and the wall patched up as best they could. Since then, city officials all the time going to restore the ancient Church, but no one hands it does not reach.

Boris and Gleb Church in Grodno included in the UNESCO world heritage site. In 1991 the Church was given to the Orthodox Church, it resumed service.
