The Church Of St. Vincent Photo: Church Of St. Vincent

Church of Saint Vincent is one of the main streets of Guarda, Rua-Direita. This street connects two gates of a medieval fortress - Port del Rei (King's gate) and Porta da Erwa.

The Church of St. Vincent was built in the middle ages and consecrated in honor of the Holy Martyr Vincent of Zaragoza. But the Church we see today is the result of the reconstruction works that have been performed in 1790. The reconstruction of the Church was initiated by the Bishop of Guarda, and was responsible for the project of Italian architect Antonio Fernandes Rodrigues. It is worth noting that Antonio Fernandes Rodriguez shortly before his participation in the reconstruction of the Church became a teacher of technical drawing in College Casa Pia, and before that studied and worked in Italy.
