In the environment of the Czech nobility was very fashionable to build hunting castles, from where it was an exciting hunt, where he kept a pack of hounds and herds of thoroughbred horses, where they lived a huntsman who looked after adjacent to the castle grounds. So try nobles: have built castles in the Czech Republic, and then bragged about them to each other.

Castle Rychnov nad Kneznou is one such hunting castles. It was built in the Baroque style on the site of a medieval castle of the XIII century by order of pan Kolovrat in 1690. Interestingly, the construction lasted quite a long time – 14 years. In the next century, the castle is undergoing extensive reconstruction. The finishing work is led by the famous Jan Santini.

Near the castle is the Church of the Holy Trinity, which played the role of the Palace chapel.

Castle until 1948 was owned by only the family of Colourful. After the nationalization in 1990 he returned to this noble family. Nowadays the castle is open for tourists. It will be interesting to see the vast collection of art paintings, which for several centuries had been collected by the members of the genus Colourful, hear the ringing of the third in size of the bell in the state, to see ornithological exhibition of the local history Museum to explore the rich castle library, stroll in the beautiful Park.

Every summer the castle Rychnov nad Kněžnou attracts various theater troupes and musical groups to showcase their skills and participate in a local festival.
