On Factory street in the city of jeseník is the house at number 176, which, according to local legend, previously belonged to the local executioner. However, the Czech historians believe that these legends are not true. The house, which is called in the Czech Cotonou, was simple suburban mansion, built in Rococo style in 1782.
However, the locals are convinced that in this house once lived the executioner, pereoborudovanie one of the rooms of his mansion under a room for torture. Near the house you can see a cross with the name of the sentences by the municipal court – Martin Wagner. The cross was discovered in a field outside the city in 1901. Interestingly, on the cross are only initials that representatives of the tourism society jeseník confidently deciphered as the first letters of name and surname of the local executioner, who was killed by the Swedes. Historians believe that the executioner by the name of Martin Wagner was never in jeseník. Once there, however, lived a man with those initials, but his name was Michal Waxman. Therefore, scientists believe that even in the name of the local executioner enthusiasts who decided to make the city more attractive to visitors, was wrong.
The informal name "Katona" the house got in the 70-ies of the last century. It was then dark romance of this place has attracted the attention of many tourists.
The mansion executioner was rebuilt several times. Significant reconstruction took place in the XIX and early XX centuries. The last repair took place in 1961. The most famous resident of this house is considered to be the scribe by the name of Joseph Kreutzer, consisting in the service of the local Prince. He had this apart in 80-ies of the XVIII century.
