One of the architectural ornaments of the modern Kaliningrad is the Villa Schmidt, built in 1903 and is a graphic example of art Nouveau. The red brick building with a rich stucco reliefs bears the name of the first owner of the mansion.
District Omaliinae (today - October) appeared in the city of königsberg in the second half of the nineteenth century by Gustav Snelly, built on a large plot of land of the estate. The estate was named after the wife Gustava - Amelie, which gave in turn the name to the whole district. Development of Omaliinae was carried out mainly by wealthy citizens of Konigsberg, and the projects of the buildings were owned by famous architects: G. Hoppe, P. Brosowski, F. Heitmann, F. Lars. What specifically belongs to the architect, the Villa project Schmidt not known for certain.
Villa Schmidt, like all the mansions Amaleena is an original brick structure asymmetric shape with beautiful decorative trim in the romantic style of the 19th-20th centuries. The architectural structure is richly decorated with floral ornaments and bas-reliefs with images of human faces and lion's head. The shape of the roof of the building defines a curved pediment, flowing the higher the tower and aborting the center of a small gallery. In our days the Villa Schmidt has been preserved in excellent condition (from the original appearance has disappeared, only the spire on the tower).
In the prewar years, it hosted the Konigsberg branch of the construction company Philip Holtzman. After the war, in the building of an internal re-planning, and in 1949 settled at Villa kindergarten №27, operating to this day. Since 2007 Villa Schmidt has the status of an object of cultural heritage (regional significance).
