According to research by historians, ancient civilizations on the territory of Western Thailand and Kanchanaburi province existed for several thousand years. The remains of one of them and is a historical Park Muang sing, with a total area of 736 sq. km.

The exact time of construction of the city and its founders are unknown. Presumably, it was created by the Khmer Rouge in the Cambodian style of Bayon in the period from XIII-XIV century. Near Muang sing, archaeologists discovered the remains of ancient people, as well as jewelry, pottery and metal tools. The ruins of the surviving buildings are made of brick and laterite and belong to the XIII century the era of Dvaravati.

Muang sing was of great importance, judging by the entries about him in the Chronicles of Prasat Phra Khan Khmer king Jayavarman VII.

The city was surrounded by a deep ditch and several impregnable fortress walls, which also indicates its importance. Among the largest of the surviving buildings in the Park are the Buddhist temples of the Mahayana school, including the Central temple of Prasat Muang Singh. The other buildings of the historical Park are of smaller scale.

Realizing the high historical value of this place, the Department of Arts has reconstructed Muang Singh in 1974. He was cleared of jungle and officially recognized as a historic Park on 3 April of the same year Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. After the Grand opening Muang sing has become a popular tourist and educational facility. On site is a Museum with detailed descriptions of exhibits that tell a long and complicated history of this ancient city.
