One of the buildings of the architectural ensemble of the old town of Kotor is the Palace of the PIM.
The Pima Palace, probably the most representative and beautiful building on Flour square in the old Kotor. He belonged to the family of PIM, which flourished from the XIV to the XVIII century and was actively involved in the life of the city. The family gave the city many well-known names, such as poets Jerome Pima and Bernard Pima, doctor of legal Sciences Pima Louis, Professor at the University in Padua.
The Pima Palace, built in the 17th century, presumably after the earthquake in 1667, to date, impresses with its beauty and uniqueness. The facade of the building, terrace, balcony with ornamental railings, bright green shutters on the Windows will impress any connoisseur of architectural art.
Like many buildings of the old town of Kotor, the Pima Palace designed in different architectural styles. A large stone terrace, decorated with ornamental carving, the main portal and courtyard in which the system of staircases and galleries leads to the upper floors, designed in the Renaissance style. Long balcony on the second floor twelve stone brackets, main portal, which depicts the coat of arms of the family of PIM supported by two angels, made in the Baroque style.
Although it is believed that the Palace was built in the 17th century, in recent studies it was found that some parts of the window openings on the rear facade of the building date back to the Romanesque and Gothic periods in architecture.
In the early twentieth century over the Central part of the Palace built on two floors, designed for the needs of the nautical school, in 1979, these buildings were demolished, and the Palace's original appearance.
