Franciscan monastery and Church of St. Catherine was built at the expense of count Francis of Keglevich in 1641 and 1657, respectively, on a place once existed here of the chapel and pilgrimage Church. The name of St. Catherine was not chosen by chance, because she is especially revered in these parts, as the patroness of the poor.

Strict two-storey monastery building with a sloping roof meets the norms of religious architecture of the time. The monastery has preserved a unique library and a collection of religious art. The library was founded in 1650 and is rich in rare instances, the most important of which are samples of printed books.

The monks here are not only developed spiritually, but also an education, studying philosophy, theology and rhetoric. The books of the library are the various printing techniques of the time and is very diverse in topics. Here are a collection of works on medicine, ethics, philosophy, rhetoric, literature, theology, etc.

Currently on the territory of the Church of St. Catherine hosts concerts of famous singers and musicians within an organised here by the Franciscan festival of sacred music “Crapiness”. The festival is held in early June and invites the opportunity for all comers.

In 2010, the monastery underwent extensive restoration work. Now the first floor is reserved for exhibition space, where in detail in documents and archival materials presents his story. Preserved a list of the names of all buried in the crypt of the Church of the Franciscan monks from 1657 to 1922, the elements of the ornaments of the altars and vestments embroidered by hand for religious ceremonies.

Also restored and the frescoes on the walls in the dining room, some researchers suggest that they could be performed by well-known Croatian master and monk Ivan Rangera. You can also see a small room (the height of a human), in which “bread and water” planted commit the misconduct of members of the brotherhood.

On the second floor today hosts various cultural events.
