The village of Perivoli located just 16 miles West of Larnaca city that once had the status of Royal "resort", and was considered a favorite destination of the aristocracy and wealthy individuals. The village is also famous for its beautiful fruit gardens, friendly people and a special relaxing atmosphere.
Previously, when this area was the power of France, this town belonged to the Royal family of Lusignan – 1191 by year 1489. The last French owner of this village became Charles Lusignan, but he lost their possessions due to the fact that was supported by the then Queen Charlotte of Cyprus. And in the days of the Venetians Perivale was sold to a rich Greek family Podocytes who owned these lands until 1571.
Until the beginning of XX century, every year the population of the village decreased in 1881 had a population of only 375 people. However, with the onset of the new century, the demographic situation has changed radically. Already in 2001 the population of Perivoli increased to 1920 inhabitants. At the moment there is a population of about two thousand people. In addition, every summer the village just overwhelmed with tourists, Cypriots and foreigners, every year there comes no less than five thousand tourists.
Thanks to its long and rich history in the village there are a huge number of interesting places to visit – beautiful buildings, ancient churches, bastions. So, the main attraction of Perivoli is considered a defensive tower that was built in the XVI century. The tower, though quite small, only eight meters in height, but is an important historical monument of the Venetian period.
