Castle of the Lubomirski and Potocki – unique Palace and Park complex, located in łańcut, is a true jewel of the national culture. The castle, built in the style of an aristocratic Palace, now a Museum.
The construction of the castle began in 1629 on the site of a fortified tower and an old Foundation. The Governor Stanislaw Lubomirski was invited by the Polish architect Maciej of Crapola chosen for the Palace, elegant shape in the form of a horseshoe. Then the Palace was surrounded by strong fortifications with bastions that protected him from the conquest by the Swedes in 1655 and Hungary in 1657.
The Golden age of the Palace came in the second half of the eighteenth century, when it was inherited by Princess Isabel Lubomirski. At that time the Palace was rebuilt by the architect Aigner. Around the Palace was surrounded with a landscape Park. The Duchess Isabella has created a unique Park with an area of 36 ha with garden, rose garden, pavilions. Here were built the Conservatory, stables, tennis court, artificial lake. After her death in 1816, the Palace passed to grandchildren Princess: Alfred and Arthur Potocki.
During the Second world war the Palace was occupied by the Wehrmacht. After the war, the Palace was nationalized, it was converted into a Museum. Now here held important techniques. In 1996 there was a meeting of presidents of Central European countries. Sometimes, scientific symposiums are held.
Compared to other aristocratic residences in Poland, the Lubomirski Palace has been preserved in excellent condition. Main halls, such as: ballroom, hall of columns, the gallery has preserved the unique atmosphere of the old era. In addition, there is a unique aristocratic library, where you can see about 22000 books.
