The famous ski resort of Tanvald is incredibly popular among Czechs and foreign travelers who want to relax in peace and tranquility. The city is located near Jizera mountains, but still not as close to them as the other resorts. So there are those who are looking for not only active winter activities, but also walks through the snowy woods, iconic species and carefree existence during the holidays.

The first settlement on the site of the future town of Tanvald was founded in the XVI century by the Germans. This explains the German name of the town. The first mention in the Chronicles of the village where the loggers and farmers who grow agricultural products, which they sold at fairs larger settlements, Dating in 1611.

At the beginning of the XVIII century near Tanvald were broken fields where flax was grown, and then it created the yarn and wove the amazing quality fabric. Soon appeared in the city two mills, glass factory and several spinning mills. The city of Tanvald attracted new professionals, gave them shelter, was interested in their interesting work and thereby increase their own well-being.

In the early XX century on the main street of the town there was electricity, and a little later built the municipal swimming pool and theatre.

To get to Tanvald using Railways trains travel from Turnov to Prague or bus. Special attractions, in addition to the chapel of St. Anne, you will not find here.
