The Museum of European art in the Potocki Palace is not only famous monument of architecture, but also one of the most beautiful buildings of the city. The Palace was built by architect Ludwig van Back in 1880 by order of the Polish magnates Potocki.
The Palace has a magnificent view, its architecture reminiscent of the French castles in the style of classicism. Three floors with attics made of brick, covered with plaster, and ornate moldings, balustrades, small sculpture. No less impressive look of the inner room – stucco, gilding, inlaid with precious stones, the use of expensive varieties of wood, painting – all this makes the state-rooms are just gorgeous. The project of the Palace was also suggested places for Parking the crews and halls for social gatherings. Until 1879 around the Palace was a huge Park, but later the street was lined with numerous buildings, and today the view of the Potocki Palace remains open from one side only.
After the war the Palace was given to the needs of the Institute of Geology. And since 1974 there had been a Palace events (or, more simply, Lviv city registry office). In 2000, the Potocki Palace opened its exposition of the Lviv art gallery. There was opened the exhibition "European art of XVI-XVIII centuries", which includes a solid collection of samples of art from the countries of Europe. On the first floor of the Museum you can admire the preserved chic interiors and vintage furniture. No less noteworthy is the hall of mirrors.
Its doors are always open daily except Monday. On weekends, here you can find a lot of wedding processions, who come here for the photo shoot. And the bride in long dresses glide gracefully through the halls, involuntarily Recalling the days when in these halls gave lavish receptions.
