The building of the Gallery of Modern art was built in the mid-twentieth century by the architect Edward Ravnikar. Features of the decor of the building are outstanding blocks of stone on the facade of the Gallery, a small decorative columns in the middle of Windows and artificial stone framing around them.

The exposition of the Gallery of Modern art presents a variety of works by Slovenian and foreign artists of the twentieth century. It widely represents the artist and sculptor Tony Kral. Every two years it hosts the international biennial of graphic art.
