The town of Gumpoldskirchen known for its fine wines, a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere and wonderful location (just 20 km from Vienna). Gumpoldskirchen today highly appreciated by the tourists who come to taste wine or to stay here to make trips and excursions to Vienna, Burgenland and in the surrounding regions of Lower Austria. Tourists can enjoy pleasant walks in the picturesque surroundings.

The winemaking here began to develop in the 15th century, however, rapid growth was hampered by the financial and economic crisis, which began after the Thirty years war. Hardly recovered, the industry once again faced with another disaster: the insect that destroyed almost all the vineyards.

To the attractions of Gumpoldskirchen include the town Hall, known to many wine lovers due to its image on wine bottles produced in local wineries. In front of city Hall is the pillory - a huge stone pillar that was used as punishment for the guilty. Also noteworthy is the cozy city street Kirchengasse with old houses from the 16th century.

St Michael's Church, built between 1400 and 1450 years, is one of the most beautiful rural Gothic churches. Two beautiful Gothic statues (John and Peter), as well as exquisite altar in Baroque style, make the interesting Church to visit. Not far away is the castle of the Teutonic order.

In Gumpoldskirchen has all conditions for a pleasant stay. There are comfortable hotels, interesting sights, and also the many wine taverns where you can taste all the local wines.
