The Cathedral Of STS. John the Baptist and John the Evangelist is the biggest Church in Lublin, built in Baroque style in the 16th century. The Cathedral is an active Archcathedral Church.

The Cathedral was founded in the 16th century by Bernard Maciejowski Catholic Bishop and Primate of Poland. The construction works started in 1586 by architects John Maria Bernardoni and Joseph brick in the Baroque style. The consecration took place on 25 April 1604 Bishop Bernard Maciejewski. Construction works were completed in 1625. In 1752, the Church was rebuilt after the great fire. On the interior of the Church worked for many renowned artists of his time. So, all the frescoes made by the sculptor John Meyer. Near the altar were created statues of saints, including St. Ignatius of Loyola.

In July 1773 in Lublin was disbanded the Jesuit order, after which the Church was ceded to the order of Trinitarians. However, the order did not have the money to maintain the Church and buildings of the former Jesuit College. In 1797 the Church was used as a warehouse for grain.

In 1805, was established in Lublin diocese, after which began the demolition of the building of the Jesuit College. The remaining debris was used to build nearby roads. In 1821 and 1878 years in the Church reconstruction was carried out.

During the Second world war, the Cathedral lost one tower, but on the initiative of cardinal Stefan Wyszynski in the postwar years, the Cathedral was restored. In the summer of 1987, the Cathedral was visited by Pope John Paul II.
