The fortress of Fortaleza do Monte was the main Outpost that protected the city from intrusion attempts of the Dutch in 1622. The castle, which was built by the Jesuits, defended the Cathedral of St. Paul in the near vicinity, from pirate raids. Subsequently, the Church was destroyed, and now with former walls offer panoramic views of the ruins.

The fortress was built on the top of the hill, which is why in all directions from here offers an excellent overview of the surrounding area. The fortress itself was built in the form of a trapezoid with the wrong angles. Around the perimeter of the hill in the old gun was located, and inside the fortress there were weapons Arsenal, barracks for soldiers and a supply of ammunition in case of a sudden attack. At the siege of the fortress could withstand the onslaught, using hidden provisions and arms, over two years.

The walls in the base thickness of four meters and a height of about nine. At the top are defensive parapets and gun, and on the South-East and South corner are sentry turrets.

The Macau Museum was opened in April 1998 and today is under the UNESCO protection. On the ground floor are exhibits devoted to religion, culture and history of Macau and the Portuguese influence on the region as a whole. The second floor is reserved Handicrafts, art and traditions of China. And on the third floor there are exhibits of contemporary art.
