Photo: a caravanserai of Sultan of Hafsa
In the historical part of Marmaris, the so-called Old Town, is the caravanserai of Sultan of Hafsa. A caravanserai is a roadside Inn where travelers or soldiers could rest and recuperate before continuing. The caravanserai of Sultan of Hafsa was built in 1545, the Upper part is decorated with original painted arches, and he lies on a narrow street leading to the city center. The caravanserai has seven small rooms and one big one.
