The Park-Museum of stone uruch'e for rent opened on the outskirts of Minsk in 1985. This is one of the most unusual museums in the world. Similar to the Museum of stones in Europe are only on the territory of Lithuania.
In 1976 at the Institute of Geochemistry and Geophysics of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR decided to systematize and describe all the boulders Belarus. To those unacquainted with Geology, such an idea would have seemed ridiculous. The fact that during the glacial period on the territory of modern Belarus faced three huge glacier, leaving behind a centuries-old memory in the form of boulders brought from other places.
In 1981 it was decided to create a Museum of stones in Minsk. For its creation in Minsk brought 2134 boulder.
From the point of view of preserving the spiritual values of our pagan ancestors, the creators of the Museum has committed blasphemy, literally tearing away the stones from their "roots". The Gentiles gave the stones a great value. Often boulders became sacrificial altars, stones, path, sacred place or danger, protecting ownership. The position of the boulder was as important as he is. But if you look at the Museum of stones from the point of view of Soviet reality, when officials atheists fought against obscurantism and barbarously destroyed everything that is somehow associated with religions and beliefs, Museum workers have accomplished a feat, preserving a priceless heritage for the future.
The Museum exposition is located in the open air on the territory of the floodplain once flowing rivers here. The Museum of stones covers an area of about 7 hectares. For a long time it was a swamp and a city dump. The territory of the future Museum was drained, cleared, and symbolically breaking in the composite sector.
The most famous composition of the Park of rocks – map of Belarus, made on a scale of 1: 2500. Stones designated upland areas. The stones used to create the map were taken from the areas that they represent. The entire map takes 4, 5 hectares.
Petrographic collection occupies the South-Eastern part of the Park. It is a four segment circled in a circular path. Here you can see the stones of different species and origin: sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous.
The exhibition "the Form of erratic boulders is located in the Eastern part of the Park and talks about the variety of forms of stones and boulders brought by the glacier. Looks very picturesque Alley "boulders". Large stones are located on both sides of the pedestrian path leading to the meadow, decorated with boulders.
