Regional art Museum of the Murmansk region is located in the oldest building in the city of Murmansk, built of stone in 1927, in the historic centre of the city, on the street of the Comintern. Building construction transportation consumer society (TPO) was started in the spring of 1927 and completed in the autumn. Until 1927 the street of the Comintern had a way with being on both sides of the log of logs. The building was 3 floors. On the first two floors housed the store, and on the last floor of the dining room.

During the great Patriotic war, the building of transport consumer society suffered, the glass dome was completely broken, which was its decoration. Over the years, he was never restored. In 1987 the building of TVET in the street of the Comintern began to turn in the future Museum. According to the decision of the city Executive Council of people's deputies of Murmansk city, the building was transferred to full use of the cultural Department of the regional Executive Committee. In the building begin repair work and reconstruction of existing facilities for the needs of the exhibition hall.

In the winter of 19 December 1989 was held a solemn opening ceremony of the first exhibition in the city hall, which soon became the Murmansk regional art Museum. Then, when his funds were donated works of drawing, painting, decorative arts and sculpture. Today the Museum collection includes more than seven thousand different items.

The permanent exhibition is called "the Russian art during the 18th-20th centuries". It consists of several sections, one of which is entirely devoted to Russian art of the 18th-19th centuries. In the collection of the art Museum features a collection of graphs, which is the most numerous representative. In the Museum hall can be considered works of Leningrad, Moscow and regional charts. Visitors can see the works of Vladimir Favorsky, Ivan Pavlov, George verey, Alexei Pakhomov, and some other recognizable graphic artists. In addition, considerable interest has some graphic works of Murmansk artists, for example, Tatiana Kovaleva, Kirin Mikhail, Yuri Pankov, Vladimir Chernov. The Museum has a small collection dedicated to sculpture. This section provides the opportunity to see the works of talented artists-sculptors of the 20th century: Thaumasia Mikhail, Sergei Konenkov, Necks of Hope, Ilya Slonim.

As you know, the Kola North has always been especially attractive to people of creative professions. In the 19th century in this region came the most famous artists. A large group of artists came to the North in the 1930-ies.

Department of painting, which focused on the artists of his native city, represents the works of experienced artists in the Murmansk region. It displays the works of Vasily Baranov, Nikolai Morozov, Nikolay Kovalev, Anatoly Sergienko and many other talented people.

In the Museum are the works of masters of decorative-applied art: Chernomor Tatyana, Baranova Eugene. There are also tapestries Zubitskiy Victoria.
