Luxury mansion Him Kornesios, named after its Creator and first owner, located almost in the heart of Nicosia, in the spiritual center of the entire island – very close to the Archbishop's Palace.
At the turn of XVIII and XIX centuries, the Dragoman (interpreter) Hadjigeorgakis the Kornesios was a Greek representative to the Ottoman authorities, one of the main activities was the collection of taxes. According to historical sources, the Kornesios soon became practically the richest man in the city, which allowed him to build this magnificent home. However, wealth did not save him from execution – the authorities accused him of fraud, and he was beheaded. Rich mansion after the death Kornesios went to his native. This two-story building is a fine example of urban architecture of the period of Ottoman rule in Nicosia.
