The Nikko national Park Photo: national Park Nikko

The Nikko national Park is a large natural complex on the territory of which there are mountains, waterfalls, forests, lakes, inhabited by various animals, but are also architectural monuments, Buddhist monuments and Shinto shrines. The Park is located in the Kanto region North-East of Tokyo on the territory of four Prefecture – Tochigi, Gunma, Fukushima and Niigata. This is one of the oldest national parks in the country (founded in 1934).

One of the natural attractions of the Park is an extinct volcano Nantaise, the eruption of which there is a big lake Chuzenji. It nourishes the Yukawa river, there is a waterfall Ruju. On out from the lake the river Miyagawa is a waterfall almost hundred-metre height of the Waterfall. The Park has many hot springs. On the area that covers more than 140 thousand hectares, you can also see and visit Alpine meadows, coniferous and deciduous forests. Not accidentally, the Park is very popular with Hiking and fishing, as well as those who appreciate the beauty of nature: arkami colors of these woods can be admired from the end of winter when flowering plum, and until late fall, when leaves turn red maples. The Park has a rare type of cherry, which is characterized by flowers with Golden petals. The forests are inhabited by ROE deer, wild boar, spotted deer and bears and monkeys and pheasants.

Man-made attractions include several temples, Dating from the XVII century. It is considered one of the main temple Tosya-GU – tomb of the ruler Tokugawa Ieyasu. In the complex there are more than 20 buildings – temple ritual gates, pagodas, bronze crypt, which leads to a long staircase, as well as a stable for the sacred horses.

Also in the national Park the sanctuary Tywin, built in the XVII century. It was built on the hillside and looks like a more restrained sort of temple Tosya-GU. Buddhist temple Rinnoji was built in the Park in 766, today you can see the Buddhist relics such as statues of the Buddha Amida Nyorai, the goddess of mercy Kannon, and other valuables of the temple.

The Park is home and sanctuary of Takino, which is visited by those who want to find true love or to resolve their "heart" of the problem.
