The Cathedral of the Dormition in Novorossiysk is one of the religious sites of the city, enjoys the same attention from tourists. Also known as: Church of the Mother of God "Joy of All who sorrow", the people of all who sorrow Cathedral, the virgin Mary Cathedral, the Cathedral of the assumption.

The beginning of its construction due to start functioning in late 1891 cemetery in the city of Novorossiysk. The Church was closed in 1937, but during the Second world war it began to recover and Church services began in the fall of 1942. The old timers say that the service at Easter in 1943 did not stop even during the artillery shelling by the Germans from howitzers. Since 1945, is the only Orthodox temple of the city.

From the point of view of religious architecture is a small one-domed Church is rectangular with a refectory and a vestibule. Now, the cemetery is a hospital for the military, in the beginning of this century completed the new great bell tower, Church kiosk, landscaped area around the temple. Currently, the Cathedral belongs to the ROC MP and has a valid status.
