The original building, located at the intersection of Victory Avenue and Zhukov in Orenburg, is a historic landmark of the city. The building, designed for water purification in the city, with a volume of just over eighty buckets, began operating in 1904. Providing Orenburg drinking water, the tower was the first step towards industrialization and development of the regional economy.
Beautiful building of the water tower is located in the historic district of the city and was previously surrounded by one-storey buildings of local residents. Until 1939 behind the tower housed a dilapidated stone mill. In our time in close proximity with the historic tower houses the television station, Orenburg oblast Philharmonic and as an architectural contrast of history and modernity, the building of the library.
The water tower that survived intact to our days and not functioning as urban drinking filter since 1946, is a monument of architecture and urban landmark. A well-lit intersection with the building of the tower in the dark night makes Orenburg mysterious and more interesting for tourists. Now the tower is a commercial structure, and the basement housed a pub with a symbolic name.
