Botanical garden located on the shores of lake Ceivashare in the Northern part of the city, is a scientific base of the faculty of biology of the University of Oulu. Produces many kinds of plants, including exotic, thanks to the exchange of seeds between the universities of Western Europe, Russia, Canada and the USA.

In two large greenhouses built in the form of a glass pyramid, collected only heat-loving plants that grow from the equator to the subtropics. These greenhouses given the romantic name – Romeo and Juliet. Their design allows to grow different height plants, not obscuring each other. Climatic conditions in this polar oasis are supported automatically.

In the greenhouse Romeo, height 16 m, are the plants humid subtropical banana and coconut trees, vines, coffee trees, cacao trees, climbing up the vine and livity, growing on trees. In chetyrnadtsatiletnego Juliet grow Mediterranean citrus, olive, Myrtle trees and delicious pineapples. Among the paths and lawns meet the amazing lithops, also called living stones, and giant Redwood trees, ornamental cedar trees, some species of mahogany, as well as new Zealand ferns and orchids. Just greenhouses features over 1000 species of flora.

Greenhouses surrounded by an arboretum, where under natural conditions grow trees and shrubs, grouped by their geographic origin – Asian, Eurasian, European and American. This is a real theme parks, consisting of 4000 different instances. A special place reserved for medicinal plants.
