The Church of San nicolás de Tolentino, built in the first half of the 19th century year of fired brick, is one of the most beautiful churches of the Philippines. It is also known as the Church of Cabatuan as located in this small town in the province of Iloilo. In addition, this huge building in the neoclassical style is the only surviving Church here with three facades. Its bell tower of the twin towers topped with domes cream color, also known throughout the country.

The construction of the Church took place under the leadership of the parish priest of Cabatuan father Ramon Alcazar. Due to the lack of building materials, he decided to erect the Church is of red brick – appeared in the brick production. Fancy ornaments of the Church interior were designed by father Manuel Guttierez. Finally, the construction was completed in 1866, after which it began to conduct services.

During the Spanish colonization, the Church of San nicolás de Tolentino called a "model Church" because it was the best example of European architecture in the Philippine archipelago. In 1948 the Church was partially destroyed in the earthquake – collapsed four bell towers, two of the pediment on the facade and a Central dome. Only in 1990 the building was completely restored in all its splendour. Today it is one of the most beautiful churches in all of Asia.
